Just wrote an entry that didn’t post! Ah the travails of technology for the uninitiated! Christmas came and went quietly. My favorite part about the season is thinking about the people I’m wrapping presents for, or writing a card to, or standing in line at the post office for. That’s when the spirit of the season creeps into my heart little by little, almost unnoticed. That and listening to Frank Sinatra or O Holy Night (my mother’s favorite Christmas song), or R & B Christmas music like Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin’ or A Five Pound Box of Money, which reminds me of New Orleans Christmases driving around with the sun shining mostly and listening to WWOZ. And now we look forward to the shining New Year 2009 with a new president and hope springing eternal once again. Thank God for the resilience of the human heart which always finds its way back to hope.
