Join me on Women’s Voices at 7 PM tonight, Monday May 31. I’ll be interviewing Peabody Award winning filmmaker Vanessa Gould, writer, director and producer of Between the Folds, a film about creativity, inspiration, and taking risks to follow ones passion. The film travels around the world profiling artists and scientists who are magnificently obsessed by a surprisingly complex and luminous art form-origami. Vanessa Gould has studied a mix of science, art, film, and design over the past two decades, including architecture and astrophysics at Columbia and music at the New England Conservatory. Between the Folds is a project born of great admiration for the artists and scientists who are creating origami today. Vanessa’s film will be screened at this year’s Mendocino Film Festival next weekend. The film is beautifully done..every element is absolutely beautiful, including music by composer Gil Talmi (with sounds of paper incorporated into the score–beautiful!), Animator Todd Sines, from Scale/New York, and Cinematography by Melissa Donovan. If you feel like relaxing after your first summer weekend, I think this will be a wonderful way to wind down ….
